Learning to Meditate

Meditation is an approach to training the mind, and it has a lot of wonderful advantages that can help improve your life. Some of the benefits include; reduce of stress, improving concentration, increased self-awareness and acceptance, and overall increased happiness.

Several meditation benefits include:

1. Stress reduction
Meditation allows people to take control of their nervous system and emotions. This helps to reduce stress and reduce anxiety. You’ll be be able to regulate emotions in the brain thanks to meditation.

2. Improve concentration
When a you start to meditate your mind is trained to focus and concentrate. Getting distracted is discouraged by meditation, and one can even multitask as there is a greater concentration in the brain which is as a result of increased energy provided by meditation.

3. Increase self-awareness and acceptance
Meditation helps us to recognize who we are and our behaviors – good and bad.

4. Improve cardiovascular and immune health
Meditating every day induces relaxation which increases nitric oxide compound that causes blood vessels to open up, hence blood pressure dropping. Meditation can also improve immunity and help with sickness.

5. Encourage a healthy lifestyle
Daily mediation leads us down a healthy lifestyle pathway. It’s been proven to help with alcohol addiction, stop smoking and has made so many people start living a healthier life.

How to meditate if you are a beginner
· Sit or lie comfortably
· Close your eyes
· Breathe naturally and make no effort to control the breath
· Focus your attention on your breath slowly
· Notice the body movement as you breathe and continue focusing on your breath
· Maintain for two to three minutes in the start and try longer periods at a time like 10-15 minutes

It’s clear that meditation has a lot of wonderful benefits. Practice meditation and you’ll enjoy all the above benefits and so much more.
